Indo US Nuclear deal
by Narasimha sista on Jul 13, 2008 10:57 PM

The whole thing is economics. It makes economic sense for all concerned. For India; to lessen dependence on oil to some extent, more importantly the advantage is strategic with International ramifications - We would come out of nuclear isolation, It is acceptance of India as a nuclear power (Military reactors are excluded from IAEA safegaurds). We would get access to advanced technology. With right amount of arm twisting we can get some military production outsourced to India. Yes USA would get to supply nuclear reactors & Technology arms and airplanes. But then we need them.

Left's opposition is mainly because we would become more powerful than China; Rather we become an alternative to China in International strategic considerations. And as an Indian I don't want to be inferior to anybody
