what u r saying is true for all film industries. Indian cinema audience wants to watch movies which are for masses and solely for entertainment. B&W and Manorama cannot be commercially hit, becoz they are not for masses...they are thought provoking. Thats why they are tagged as multiplex movies. General public likes to see item songs and fights and thats true for all regions/states in India. People go to theatres to relax and get entertained, thats why a shitty movie like OSO became a hit because it entertained people. It was a typical masala film. So, you just cant say that Bollywood produces only mainstream films...there is a big parallel cinema as well that people need to start watching in India.
