Helen Bannerman's Indian Little Black Sambo highjacked by Africa
by Nihit Saxena on Feb 22, 2009 04:22 PM

This pains me so much that a children book from Helen Bannerman about brave indian kids has been highjacked by African people and being called racist.

Well here is a fact for you. Sambo has nothing to do
with Africans or Africa. The story is about a brave kid set in India.
Helen Bannerman lived in India for 30 years, she doesn't know ABC about
Africa. There are Tigers, Mongoose, Elephants, Muggers (you would know
they are crocodiles if you are Indian), Mangoes, Ghee, Dhobi (you would
know what that means if you are Indian), Babaji. Where the heck is Africa
coming from here. Africa get out of Little Black Sambo please and never
again try to own it or use it for racism. These are stories of very
brave Indian kids.

The blame of confusion goes to the artists who saw the word black and started making african drawings.. stupid ignorant artists.. even for this cartoon film.. the original Bannerman drawings were clearly indian (stright hair).

I invite anyone who disputes that..

This is a concern for people who are indian.. their positive representation is highjacked and used by Africans for their propoganda. Use something of your own!! The same thing happenned with Swastika and aryan as if germans ever know what those word means in Sanskrit or their etymology or breakup.

Give back our stuff and dont you dare call it your own ever!!

I want a petition to republish the books everywhere without any interference...
