Kamal Haasan is a gifted artist, with multitude of talent in acting, writing and music. I wouldnt say all his movies are great, but he has the caliber to single-handedly carry the subject and make it a grand success. The Indian version of Mrs.Doubtfire (Chaachi 420/Avvai Shanmughi) is an example. His performance in Nayagan, Munram Pirai (Sadma), Indian, Guna, Appu-Raja (Apporva Sahodarargal), Pushpak,MahaaNadi etc speak for themselves.
I was going through some of the discussions here, where they say how these oldies can continue to be heroes. Now, would you ever put an end to this ? A leadrole in a film need not be heroic. Actors like Kamal, Mohanlal, Irfaan khan etc are there for their ability to act and carry the role throughout, not for their 6 packs abs or biceps or romantic looks.
Ofcourse there are times when these artists are put under those heroic roles, but in every such movies, you'll see atleast 10 minutes of their time spent on quality acting.
Stop sterotyping movies. A movie doesnt need a hero, it just needs some lead roles / theme
