Know the facts: only 130 acres out of 1000 acres are in dispute. The owners of this 130 acres are not real owners at all but used to be tenant farmers but got ownership documents because of the Land Reform Programme of the CPI(M) in 1977. They are very poor marginal farmers, their land cannot provide enough for them, so they regularly work as labourers. Now because of TATA there is no shortage of jobs in Singur; they can get a job easily. Plus they will get a huge money ( 1.3 times of the price of land in 2006 and interests from 2006 to 2008) for land which they never bought with money but just got as a gift from the government. As a result, they all want TATA to stay now, as the value of their land will go to the bottom if TATA leaves and there will not be any job either. Mamata is creating trouble only for political reason since the LEFT has decided not to support Manmohan Singh government. Mamata did nothing since 2006 when the TATA has decided to set up the plant in Singur.
