BENGAL CAN NEVER BE THE RICE BOWEL OF INDIA..
by MGR Fan on Sep 03, 2008 09:29 AM

First of all Bengal is such a small state... just 88000 sq kms. Chattisgarh is 2 times bigger than Bengal, and receives as much rainfall.

Secondly Bengal is tightly populated with so much poor people. Bengal has 10 crore people. Feeding 10 crore people is not a easy task.

Bengal will never be the rice bowel of India. No chance. Bengal should be happy if they can feed themselves and the illegal bangladeshi immigrants.
