Insufficient supply, rising incomes etc. are only part of the reason. The real reason is speculation following the mild fear created by diversion of food to fuel and reports of droughts. Such speculation created undue panic causing export curbs which worsened the situation a whole lot more. Only way to take care of this is the whole world coming together and working hand in hand in resolving the situation rather than advocating the 'us vs them' mentality which will only further degrade the issue
