My family have had the privelege of owning and using cars from various countries. In the Saloon cars, in my experience Euopean cars like Merc, BMW, VW,Renault, Lamborgiini and Fiat are definitely the best in engineering, style, power, performance ( Maybe not necessarily in mileage). The American cars like Ford, GM, Daimler come next. The Japanese cars are basically for mass consumption. They are rolled out of the production lines for a different segment of buyers. You will see in Africa and ME most of the cars vsold are the Japanese. In Africa leading is Toyota. Then come Nissan, Suzuki,Mitsubishi and Honda. Mind you Honda is last. Cars from Hyundai and Daewoo do not count much.
In the 4WD nothing to beat the Toyota Prado which I own now. They are th best and largest selling. Then comes the Nissan Petrol,Then the JEEP from Chrysler and Galloper from Hyundai.
In Pickups it is again Toyota leading, the comes Isuzi, Nissan, Ford etc.
Presently I own the latest 9th generation model of Toyota Corolla also apart from PRADO and this car is just amazing. It has the new generation VVTi engine for high performance. The toyota launched in India is about 3-4 years behind those launched in Europe and USA and available in Africa.
