We need Labor laws
by timepass on May 01, 2008 12:10 PM

Expolitation will happen if there is nothing to control or regulate employers. US has a labor department which sets the minimum wages to be paid and also wages as per qualification, experience and knowledge. They also have guidelines on number or hours of work and many companies and bound to pay workers overtime. Unless Govt impose such regulations, exploitation will continue.

On the other side, it is important to fix the system to roll out smarter graduates, better soft skills and improve productivity and efficiency and let ppl enjoy life after work. I think people are far more efficient when set free than with strict controls. Planning properly and reducing waste or redundant work can reduce work times by at least 30-40% today. My biggest wonder is what are the teaching at the much touted IIMs today?? Why employee dissatisfaction is so high inspite of high salaries??
