The problem with Govt. jobs is that the hard-working scientist gets paid the same as the no-show scientist, the hard working bank clerk get the same hike as the paan-chewing absentee clerk. Govt. should read some books on management and employ policies that reward hard work, honesty and intellect - Just showing up to work is not enough (some govt. employees don't even do that). Govt. needs to define 'performance benchmarks' for jobs and then hike salaries based upon them. Such blanket salary increases would only empower freeloaders and increase inflation for the general population.
