Nilekani on 6 things that changed India
by Sanjay Misra on Jun 18, 2008 06:42 AM

Seems a bit wanting. We may add skewed govt policies on reservation, feebly paid scarce govt jobs, corruption which made people to work harder, computer revolution, new economic policy and globalisation just came at the right moment. Technology revolution is not visible, most of the time we are playing second fiddle. Most of the technologies are imported. Maturity in democracy is really recognizable. Still we are not doing much but patting our back too much by singing 'India Shining' songs. It is a small victory. We can not progress until unless infrastructure and urbanization are given a big facelift and meritocracy is recognized. Corruption has to go - that is a precondition. Our progress on these fronts is more wanting.
