Kolkata Metro
by sudipta sarkar on Jun 06, 2008 05:47 AM

The extension from Tollygunge to Garia has been put on hold. So plans for another metro route appears to be a joke. Keeping in mind the congested feature of Kolkata, a Monorail(MRTS Of Singapore) or LRT (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)or the Skytrain(Bangkok) will be most suitable that will not require digging and creating tunnels , making life much more of a hell like it happened when the Metro was constructed for the first time in the 80s.And given the extremely slow pace of things in Kolkata, another Underground Metro would be a complete Mess. This communists and the planners in Kolkata seemed to be really old fashoned and outdated thinkers.
