Petrol price
by Nageswara THOTA on Jun 04, 2008 07:24 PM

In 1989 June I paid Rs 10/- for 1.10 litres. I do not remember exactly but my father used to tell me that in my school days, i.e., in 1960s (I am 58 years old now), petrol was Rs 1.25 a litre (rather approximately Rs 5 per gallon). But every thing increased in price.. When I was married in 1977, Gold was Rs 300 per soverign (8 gms).Today, it is about Rs 9000 per the same 8 gms.. Of course, my monthly salary then was Rs 800 (about 2.67 soverigns). Today, it is Rs 35,000. The price of every good increases due to inflation and in market economy, we can not avoid inflation. But my problem is this. When BJP was in power, Congress cried from roof tops about the increases in fuel prices. They are doing the same thing now
