New era

Vinod Khosla is in the right place. US creates problems but always finds solutions. Though US is 70% dependent on imports, Al Gore has initiated steps to produce every kw of electricty from renewable energy within ten years. His scientific advisers say this is doable. Rather than spend trillions in debilitating fossil fuels & time running out due to carbon emissions, Gore wants the new President to blaze a new path. Already steps, including that of Khosla & Boon Pickens etc, are towards that direction. The aim is to get renewables at less than fossil fuel prices.

We generate great heat in our politics which unfortunately cannot be captured to generate electricity. It is estimated that 1% of sunlight in Sahara desert can power the world. Also, 40 minutes of sunlight can give electricity for a year. We can produce 600000 mws a year from solar, that is many times our requirement. Yes, we cannot do it now but the equations are changing fast.

Renewable energy is the new area for venture capitalists. Internal conbustion engine is also under attack & hydrogen fuel, better battery technology are around the corner. Even a car to run on water in Japan(so let us believe it).

Bush wasted opportunities & looked for energy from the wrong sources. Obama will have new perspectives with people like Al Gore having influence to wean them away from fossil fuels.

But for us, our leaders stoke their great egos at national cost. Let us join with US for the right reasons!
