The author's views are sometimes suspect. Paradoxically it is when he writes about economics. This one is not the case.
The purpose of the 'deal' is so plainly evident, and it is indeed a facade. Pity that it was marketed so badly by the PM. Either way, no reason to shy away from opportunity when it presents itself.
India never has formally surrendered to the US, Japan has. But does that mean that Japanese have less self respect than Indians? Or are they TODAY subjugated totally to the americans? Why worry then about this 'deal' and the pride of India? It is more shameful when foreign publications still write factual articles on manual scavenging in India. First let us correct that, and then worry about dominance by foreign powers.
