Why your argument is flawed...
by on Jan 18, 2008 08:44 PM

My Arguments:
> PhD expires with no work
Sorry it%u2019s not the PhD but the researcher with his PhD.

> PhD is a degree
Sorry I strongly disagree. It%u2019s a way of life. When one invests his prime solving some problem, motivation is to do good research. Those who fail to continue, lose out. It is true with any profession.

> Comparing it with medical profession
Apple Vs Orange Story. ves exist with %u2013ves everywhere. Look up to the work of Dr Pachauri, Dr Rajeev Sangal, Dr Rajshekhar Reddy, Dr Jhynjhunwala. These people have proved themselves. And for your information they still work 16 hrs a day.

> Quality of journals/papers
Yes you are right. Quality of PhDs in India is not comparable to top western universities. But so do our education system. No wonder best brains in India go out for their PhD.
But then exceptions always exist.

Finally Phd is not an examination. The very premise on which your argument is based sounds quite naive.

Why not have an expiry date for PhDs?
