TATA - A CLASS APART
by jamsheed abumohammed on Jan 14, 2008 07:22 PM

Ratan Tata lived upto his promise. A promise well kept under the circumstances even wading through stiff competition. Its a laudable achievement and a dream came true. Hope its performance will match its price tag and will not disappoint the public. People may be of the view that quality would have been sacrificed for price. It was not so as reports suggest that it is no inferior to other small cars. Skeptics and critics may view it differently that this car will add to the ever growing menace of parking in public places besides adding to the pollution. All said and done, TATA, as a true Indian made India proud. A feat rarely achieved. World has just woken upto to take notice. But even the likes of Suzuki came out with a statement that they are not prepared to make any smaller car than Maruthi-800. Perhaps there will be no competition to the TATA as the other small cars will suffer in the long run, if more and more companies join the fray to make similar car. I wish TATA are left alone so far as this small car is concerned and let other companies concentrate in other segments which is doing fairly well. TATA should assure the public that there is no hidden cost other than taxes as people fear that though the basic model may cost Rs.1 lak, the dealers may ask for more for added service. TATA should allay this fear of the public before launching commercial of the vehicle. The car produced in any number will surely be sold out on first day itself, forcing TATA to produce more.
