If BSNL could do it, Railways can do better. Railways can double the profit as it depends on your crafting skills. In abscence of a competition it would be right to asssume that Railways have become efficient. Comparing with itself does not mean much. Railways need to be partly freed of Governmental controls to breathe in free air, fresh ideas and innovations. Under Governmental control it takes ages to get things incorporated or executed. Even if 10% is given to express themselves, the railway can run at ten times the speed in mobilising resources and optimising the existing infrastructure. There is 1000 fold demand for railway seats/tickets, which are never accounted for. Wasting the demand in a competitative world is suicidal. I am sure if Railways go public they can corner the biggest investment ever. It is foolish to keep Indian Railways in Chains. Nehruvian economics has lived its day. I needs a sound burial. It is surprising that this is happening in the times of Professor Manmohan Singh, the emeritus Professor of Economics. I think Honourable Lallu Prasad did not learn any hard lessions at IIMA. In a world which is now totally goverened by the Supply and Demand Economics, wasting even a day is crime against humanity. Infrastructure sector needs to be freed of Govermental control for optimal utilization of our scarce resources. May there be light in the unending darkness. An ordinary man can never manage a seat however urgent it may be, even though Railway Booking is
