Yes, the railway minister hs presented a people friendly budget. Yet he has a long way to go before the railways become truly people friendly. Most of the stations have unmentionable toilets as do the trains.Housekeeping both in the stations and trains is pathetic to say the least. The food served is generally poor in both quantity and quality and very expensive for what is served ( Rs 42/- for veg meals).
Hope the railway minister gets to learn firsthand what the customers face - a journey by train is geneally a ordeal. Many important stations such as Jhansi, Kanpur, Bhusaval, Itarsi are badly maintained and stink. The platforms are not cleaned often and vendors cheat and charge more.
Inspite of all the neagtives the railway minister deserves kudos - the railways are no longer loss making and some of the stations are looking quite good with improved facilities.
