One step forward...
by sachin sharma on Aug 16, 2008 03:22 PM

This is a great opportunity for the following simple reasons:
1. The tie-up for implementation and distribution is being done through private partners (and not central gov.). This means a more seamless, efficient execution, and a proper channeling of any voluntary education related contributions
2. Imagine the extent of involvement education will have once computers are included. This is already shown by an increase in first graders where this was introduced
3. With our high penetration of mobile infrastucture, wi-fi should not be an issue, plus this allows a wireless LAN, enabling students/teachers to exchange assignments
4. Given our country's inherent acumen for technology, this will definitely help generate interest in kids at a primary education level

The same used to be said about mobile phones some years back. Now, growth in mobile connections is nearly 50% per annum. Its defintely a great step, and should be encouraged by the govt.
