Yes! I am a great fan of Solar Energy.
fir the first time, I see my favoruite topic on rediff.
It is great to see the kind of response.
Many of us are awaer of the Clean and Green Energy, the source of which is tremendous.
Nuclear Energy is not the only option for us, as we have tremendous amount of solar Insolation particularly in Asian countries. The advantage of Soalr energy is it is directly available, while for others, we have to get via indirect means. Also there is a misvonception about the cost of energy. While the Solar Energy needs large capital investment, whose payback period goes for 20-25 Years, while the other types of energy needs a little less period. Even Capital investment in the initial stages of a nuclear Power plant also very high, the reliablity of meeting peak load demand makes it convenient. But the safety factors are a major concern . Especially in a country like India, where the access is very for the people on the prowl.
Even the World's largest guzzler of Energy, the US of America has only 25% of it's power from nuclear source. Much hype is being created by our politicians and the traders, as they need some thing new. Actually we are not new to the technology. No one bothers why should we sign the safety norms of IAEA or salutign Uncle Sam on this.
With the huge amount of Solar insolation upon our country region, the cost of Soalr Energy comes down drastically. But who will listen? Do we listen? How many of us asked about a drop in Petrol/Di
