RE:PM's solution!!
by Venkatesan Seshadri on Apr 29, 2008 12:21 PM

Our Honourable PM's request is rather amusing and disappointing. Instead of trying to improve the lot of the poor and needy, he is passing the buck to Industry. Some time back he was blaming the highly-paid CEOs.

Let the PM, his colleagues, UPA and its leaders realise that SHORT-TERM, POPULIST and IRRATIONAL FISCAL MEASURES alone have contributed to this major disaster. A fortnight earlier the Finance Minister lashed out at cartels (in regard to cement, steel and commodity prices)and referred to the 'business class' as being greedy.

It is generally accepted that if Industry (private and public) does well, then the cost will come down (unless it is a monopoly). Some of the examples are Telecom, White goods (Fridge, TV, Computers..) and even Rail travel (the surplus profits have ensured that there was no increase in passenger fare that on the flip side the increase in freight has dented the wallet of the poor).

Industrialist-baiting is a favourite past-time of our politicians and sad to see our PM too join in this game.

Again it is the aam-aadmi and the garib who are bearing the brunt.

Can we as responsible citizens cut down on our avoidable expenses and contribute directly to good NGOs (our contribution vide Government taxes are not reaching the poor and the needy)?

Let's do what we can - the politicians just won't do anything good for society..

From a sad fellow-Indian
