Where are the corporate world sponsors of culturally important events? Absurd news items like Shilpa Shetty-Richard Gere incident holds public attention & news for months while people who continue and create Indian traditions subsist on a pittance! Where are the Mittals, the Ambanis,the Narayan Murthis,the Premjis,the Tatas,the Murlis,the Rams etc; of the corporate world & the Manmohan Singhs, the Lallus, the Gandhis, the Karunanidhis, Jayalalithas, Thackreys, Advanis etc; of the political world when it comes to supporting Indian culture? Aren't these the people who should dedicate themselves to assure Indian culture and traditions do not die? Aren't these the people who should share their wealth and influence to give back a little to their country? Or is India only good to plunder from and not contribute to? Haven't these representatives of India a responsibility towards their homeland? Wealth is fine, but how much can one man eat, drink & in how many houses can they live in their lifetime? How many cars can they enjoy, jewels & clothes can they wear? And how much music can theu listen to that gives joy, peace, inspiration, soothing calmness and uplifts the spirit, not only to one person but millions at little expense? The west falls over its feet to support classical orchestras, operas that our own Indians attend eagerly often not understanding a word! Yet our millenary art crumbles to dust from indifference and disdain. Millionaires corporate or politicians learn the vices
