Peak and Off-peak fares
by Alok Gupta on Mar 07, 2007 01:49 PM

This is a 100% rubbish idea. By imposing such silly 'creative' ideas, the government is trying to dictate terms on the timing one would fly out (remember .... earlier there were full, third, half and fourth rates for STD calls). No one wanted to speak in day hours and in evening hours the lines were jammed. It was no good at all to anyone. Now it is all unified tarrif and that simple.

Each passenger has his or her own prefered time of flying that best suits the needs and thier own time table related to work or liesure. Let the airlines and the passenger demand determine this dynamics. Government should rather focus on improving basic infrastructure which is so sick (some developments are visible though in some airports). A lot needs to be done to accomodate the ever increasing number of flights and passenger traffic and the government should make fast developments to reduce air congestion which is a waste of fuel (a non-renewable energy source) and adds to pollution. If you change fare, the low fare timings will become jammed up instead of the high fare time slot. It will be the same scenario at the end of the day.
