agriculture and small farmers
by srinu veli on Jun 08, 2007 09:55 AM

I wish to express my deep concern about my farmer brothers.
During the last one and half decade the condition of small farmers has become worse and farmers are commit suicide in large numbers. Governments and political parties are not doing enough to help them .The small farmers have become divided weak class that are exploited by the powerful. The Strong and powerful are getting stronger and the others are struggling to meet the basic necessities.
I see the Governments are run by the agriculture ministers who support rich and powerful liquor lobbies and see wine as agriculture product and to be sold in open market with out license. The governments are in control of those whose slogan is "MERA SAPNA, SAB KA MAAL APNA". The Governments are helping middle men who own "FARM FRESH MARKETS" in making the extra money as they are profitable. The real farmers are suffering losses and commit suicides.
The Government agencies and policies are doing lip services and are not turning into actions to help the poor small farmers .The Governments have no action plan. They involve in just number games in budgets.
