Billing rates of Wipro / Infosys
by on Jul 24, 2007 02:54 AM

HI,

If some one is thinking that billing rate of Wipro and Infy is less then you are mistaken.
Some 3 years back for a project I took few outsourced engineers from Wipro they used to Bill 4500 US$ while working in India ( $ was about 45 rupees) and on foreign location the expenses were extra. Of this was not a bulk deal but just experimental deal so that would fluctuate rate a little bit but overall for the skill sets and knowledge level for initial few engineers this was too much.

Senior Engineers ( 6 to 7 yrs exp) touted as experts in particular areas were actually heaving just black box testing in those fields.
Indian service industry people say they reply on breadth of experience rather then depth but I never realized before how shallow the depth is .I am still in touch with these guys and interestingly they have become managers in various companies owing to vast breadth of experience they have :-)

Indian Service companies have invested almost zero rupees in R&D and creating solutions. Instead they preferred to sit on Cash mountain. This cash mountain made balance sheets look lucrative so the promoters and ESOP holders at very senior management level
were able to mint good money in stock market. if there is some problem today it is just because of poor planning and risk hedging done in last 10 / 15 years.

Greed has no bounds Enron management has proved it , I feel Wipro / Infy and TCS are also in same league
