I think, it's high time Indian Government start issuing Citizenship Card / Number. This single card / Number should be referred/linked to everything, instead of having many cards like PAN card, Ration Card, Voter ID, etc., etc.. If the Govt. can spend resources to issue many cards, why not a single card having all details at a stroke.
If i remember correctly, Mr.L.K. Advani spoke about that before coming to power but did not implement the same when in power.
