stop the infinite sequence

I never understand what is the stance of these government departments. If these "NUMBER"s are being introduced as identification for a particular purpose, why do any individual need more than one identification number ? Politicians introduce these multiple numbers so that scams can be done easily as these numbers are highly confusion-raising. why cannot we have one simple and unique identification number for every person in the country?
I agree that its a humongous task ... but better late than never. This number must have all the financial, educational, criminal, property, legal records linked to the indivdual. IMPLEMENT THIS CORRECTLY, AND LETS SEE HOW THE COUNTRY WILL NOT FLOURISH!!!
