Public transport
by Subramanian on Dec 26, 2007 04:22 PM

Dear sir,
This is the most neglected area. The co operative idea has not come to this area. The public transport in each city should be given to co peratives run by taxi drivers and bus drivers. This way pooling of all resources will be good. The out moded old taxis can be removed overnight and new airconditioned taxis can be introduced. The private operators also can be allowed to compete with this co opeartives for premium services. All such vehicles should be allowed to go 1- sharing basis 2- non-sharing basis as per the wishes of the customer.

Presently we have only 2 modes of cheap transport. Bus and train. Taxi is very costly and is in very bad condition also. Taxi drivers life also is very bad due to unnecessary restrictions. Forming a co operative society of all drivers will help the public transport all over the country in a big way and will stop this collossal watage of petrol.
