.. not sure but AC cabs (metered) do exist in Kolkata and Mumbai. Rediff needs to do a better research. Both cities have a huge taxi network , infact taxis are used very frequently in these metros unliek soem of the other ones like Delhi / Hyd / Blr / Chen where ppl avoid the same and rely on autos which are even bigger thieves
