Left must stop lobbying for Chinese firms
by Venkatraman on Oct 12, 2006 05:46 PM

The Indian Government's decision to exclude the Chinese from vital infrastructure sectors like ports, airports and telecom is in national security interests.

Already the Chinese with their presence in Coco Island (Myanmar) and Gwadar port (Pakistan) as well as near the Indian border in Bangladesh are indulging in espionage activities. Allowing the Chinese in India, especially in the vital infrastructure sectors would give them easy access to Indian activities and would tantamount to playing into the Chinese hands.

The left parties musts desist from promoting China's interests. They should remember the Chinese treachery of 1962 and China's overt and covert support to the Pakistani military establishment before advocating any policy changes favourable to China.

Chinese claims of improved relations with India is mere rhetoric a la 1962 'Hindi-Chini Bhai Bhai'. Let us understand China's true intentions and not believe what China wants us to believe.
