We must build up on what we do best
by Ankur on Dec 04, 2006 11:03 AM

Certainly, India does not have chip foundries, but the cost of setting them up here are still prohibitive. We are on the track, are taking the best alternative and are not giving up on the field either. We are working on the intellectual side, which is of greater value on the long run, encouraging IPR's from within.

The interdependence of India and China in this respect (more so via politically independent entities like OEM's) is for the best of both sides. By avoiding such clash of interests, we are also avoiding fierce competition from them. (This they are very well capable of. Maybe not right away, but once their govt. takes up a task it is not like in India. They will be trained within years and Co.s are ready to work in their language too.)
