Yes , India will very well become a Global Knowledge economy leader. Thanks to the IT , Pharma , Telecom , Retail , Entertainment sector boom , this is happening in only 10 to 20% of the population. Around 80% are still below poverty line and are languishing in underemployment , posses low skillsets , involved in child labour , ragpickers , low farming productivity and poor peasants , women in manual jobs , street vendors , beggars , hotel workers , low level menial jobs. This is where the Govt should address by focussing on Technology and effective Technology Mgt in Education ,Health care , Agriculture , Public Utilities , Water Mgt , Power , Telecom and other infrastructure areas. The information age has resulted in a Knowledge Economy and until we educate and impart the right skillsets and vocational skills to every Indian , emerging as a Global economy leader is a far cry. We should not miss out to Brazil , Russia and China with our large unwieldy population base . Finally , Govt should stop further population groth in the poverty stricken villages of Orissa , Bihar , MP , Rajasthan , AP , HP. Then we can empete with China.
