The Soil of Singur
by Dr S Banerji on Jun 02, 2006 12:42 PM

There can be many costs to leaders taking decisions without consulting others. The alluvial soil of Singur is amongst the most fertile in West Bengal. Ratan Tata should have been accomodated about 100 kms west of Singur. The Tatas own 2 large agri input companies and would know that Singur land should not be converted from agriculture to making cars.
