India seems to be a few years behind in taking this step towards privatisation. It is a step forward as it is really pathetic to see the condition of some of the key airports in India, a classic eg being the Bangalore airport. One, the current airport doesnot have the capacity to control the current air traffic, and two the international airport that was supposed have come up has become a joke. Privatisation will ensure better services, cleaner airports and importantly as in all other sector which have been provatised, customer will be the king. Left parties cries, and the labor unions cries of employees loosing jobs is unfound as all currently employed personnel at airport are skilled and trained and no private organisation in its senses will fire skilled man-power. Also as there is a desperate need to expand and may be build new airports, the number of available jobs will obviously not come down but go up. Only thing which will happen is, people will have to start working harder as privatisation autamatically demands performance. The left parties will have their lame egos hurt, and thier control on the functioning of the airports via the labor unions reduced.
