I was just reading the article "6th Pay commission may derail the economy" Based on the statistics and figures presented there I made a few quick calculations.
The average salary of a central government employee in 1999-2000 stands at Rs. 13202.42 to be exact. A reference has been made to the share of state governments ration of revenue to salaries being 90% and some states unable to pay salaries.
What strikes me as a first thought from all this is that engineers in India might not have such a grand average salary. And secondly, all the taxes that we pay and all the harasment that a tax payer undergoes is only to pay salaries of non performers. Moreover the government demands these taxes as a right which i can only equate to the communist maxim of "From each according to his ability and to each according to his need"
To eloborate would read that those who are capable of earning good money have to pay more taxes and those who cannot get government jobs and take up the job harrasing people to demand money as salaries rightly due to them!!!
