Perils of 6th pay commission
by Shankar Lal on Feb 25, 2006 10:58 PM

Govt. employees are paid so little that a class one officer can't even afford to have a flat of his own. A person of same qualification in private earns atleast 4 times and some times 10 times more than what a govt. servant gets. People in the private sector getting money multiple time have unbalanced the economy. The constitution of India talks about equal distribution of wealth. The disparity between the pay of govt people and pvt people (with same level of qualification)is widening the gap and creating a society contrary to what our visionaries had seen. Inspite of M.Tech from IIT I decided to work for Govt. and the nation and have been serving the nation for last 15 years, but when I luk at my pay package It is pitty. Only satisfaction I get is that I am serving my nation the India and the nation gives me enough for my need. Pay commission ends up only merging the Basic Pay and DA as prevalent at the time of commission. An individual only gains few thousands(Rs 500-1500). It only takes care of the assymetry that arises in the pay due to inflation. It is only negation of inflation. Then why so much hue and cry of creating of pay commission. It is only a corrective mechnism.
