6th Pay Commission - Welcome move!
by Pavan Laddad on Feb 09, 2006 06:37 PM

I think setting up of a 6th pay commission is a welcome move. In today's age, when an entry level post of a call centre can pay atleast Rs.10,000 per month, Govt cannot still continue with low & old pay scales. Due to my work exp, I come in contact with some of the brightest individuals who have plethora of duties at a District level/ State level, but whose salaries dont match even that of an Asst.Mgr of a Pvt sector company!

Will this mismatch not force good individuals to become corrupt - because even they have to survive in the society & they have to look after their children???

A day should come, when the Govt sector should be the most soughtafter place to work for the brightest professionals. The same is not possible in a market driven economy by paying peanuts to honest, but capable professionals. The new pay commission is a small step in that direction. Ofcourse on the otherhand, inefficient & lazy officers should be thrown out at the earliest from the Govt!
