I don't know how many people remember Ralph Nader. This was the man who took on the might of American Corporations and forced them to stop exploiting and brainwashing the American people into buying things that were not only shoddy but often downright harmful. While American consumers have a measure of protection from their laws it is open season as far as foreign countries are concerned. There are cases of mothers feeding their infants in South America with Coke and Fanta instead of Mother's milk such is the power of malicious high-power advertising on the uneducated and gullible psyche.
We in India should also know that while Nader and other Americans have protected their people - we in India are still horribly vulnerable. Coke and Pepsi contain just sugar, water and falavouring, the cost of which is a few paise. Even without the generous dose of pesticide this isa product which is very harmful to children. It dissolves tooth enamel, injects high doses of refined sugar into the body and has no nutritional value whatsover. Parents who spend their money on soft drinks are often depriving their children of other healthy food and inflating doctor's bills.
