The transportation system in a city like Delhi has to be a mix of all the alternates. We cannot afford to discard or disrepute any alternate on the basis of initial economics. And indeed the social angel has has also to be looked upon. I have travelled couple of times on the Metro and have noticed the sense of pride on the faces of the commuters. This has also helped Delhi commuters in becoming more disciplined and organized. Not a single incident of Vandalization has been reported. Then there opportunities for developing engineering expertise and to my knowledge the metro station at Raja Garden which is one of the highest point stands testimony to this. India should not tend to talk about the measly third world countries rather it should march forward with all the energy to show that we can do it better in all aspects.
