Utterly Butterly Inspiring article
by bs ramakrishna on Sep 23, 2005 10:44 AM

Have been an amul fan ever since i can remember.Love its ads, have collected them for the past 30 years. amul's success can be attibuted to 5 factors: unity, perseverence, adaptibility, quality & availability. Amul inspired 'Operation Flood' & heralded 'White Revolution' in India. It began with two village cooperatives & 250 liters of milk per day, nothing but a trickle compared to the flood it has become today. Today Amul collects, processes and distributes over a million liters of milk & milk products per day, during the peak, on behalf of more than a thousand village cooperatives owned by half a million farmers.
Amul has been advertised well. It has helped that those responsible for keeping the Amul name in the public eye have used considerable imagination. The taste of India is nothing short of brilliant. Amuls brand ambassadors are not movie stars or sports persons, it has been the moppet itself. Yet their popularity of their ads & products have never diminished. The design of their ads is based on simplicity, some English (& Hinglish) language puns, keeping in touch with contemporary happenings & just smart creativity. So easy to say, so difficult to execute in real life.
