Dear Koushik, I was not paid by anyone. I used to work in the BPO industry, in Chennai for about 3 years, 6 months. Was promoted 4 levels. Currently, am an MBA student in the US studying 'Stakeholder Theory and Social Responsibility'. The fact that you enjoy working is your prerogative. Nobody can interfere with you enjoying (or not enjoying) your work. Management and your team members can provide an atmosphere which is conducive, but at the end of the day it is your responsibility. Now, the point here is not whether you enjoy your work or not. It is the fact that you work 12 to 14 hours a day. Questions: Do you get paid overtime? Are you able to balance work and life with this schedule? Do you realize that management has a role in subtly manipulating your time (by making it appealing to you and others) in the office? Know that an ebullient attitude like yours towards work is what management is looking out for to take advantage of. Moving forward, speak for yourself instead of: "We love working 12-14 hours a day." I am not sure if many others share such a sentiment, or maybe you did speak with EVERYONE in your industry who works 12 to 14 hours a day?
