Mr. Narayana Murthy's resignation
by Prof. Durbha S Ramesh on Oct 20, 2005 06:43 PM

It once again goes to prove how indecent our politicians can be towards honest and dedicated individuals who are self-made. Any self-respecting person would have reacted the way Mr. Murthy did. It requires both courage and self-esteem to stand up like Mr Murthy did. Hats off to a member of such a vanishing tribe in public life!. It is for this reason that it is often said " Class does not breed easily".

I wish the former prime minister takes some classes in probity and public behaviour and learn to show due respect to creative individuals who struggled to put India on the world map when politicians like him were snoring off at public expense.

it is a matter of shame that this should happen in a forward looking progressive state of south india. Such stunts of Mr Gowda may go down well with the largely fuedal north Indian societies but not in regions where hard work, scholarship and humility are recognised and rewarded besides being percieved as hall-marks of a sophisticated civilised community. Mr Gowda's behaviour is another instance of an uncultured response, by a peoples servant, perhaps inherited from his days at Delhi. Let Mr. Gowda show some grace by apologising.

D S Ramesh
