The boom which is attracting IITians to stay back in India is strongly being driven by services sector, or more aptly knowledge sector. One favorable change experienced by placements at various IITs is diversity of jobs which are being offered. But peaking packages and work environments in knowledge sector jobs is pushing more and more engineers to move out of manufacturing sector. IT and ITES jobs in campus account for >70% of total offers and increasing. There should be a well balanced pie between various sectors. If this means manufacturing companies should get to path of innovation, expansion, challenges and competitiveness then surely we will have merry time all around.
