Biased reporting
by Harpreet on Jul 28, 2005 04:35 PM

The media does no analysis and just repeats soundbites in verbatim, the more controversial the better.
First of all it is a traversty to the freedom fighters to liken this storm in a tea cup to Jallian walla bagh, yet the media carries the quotes.
The protestors were all armed with lathi's and rocks, they attacked policemen and burnt down jeeeps and even asaulted and beat up a SSP, yet all this is not even raised as a question to the Communist's in the interview ( which shows the bias of the press too ! ) further there are leading questions rather statements made ( ie- no policeman has been suspended) and no question asked about how come in W Bengal tea strike ( much more number of workers involved much bigger impact on economy yet no coverage from the armchair reporters of Delhi) the Communist govt got a settlement done which the labout unions are calling a sell out to the managment, whereas here they are making a hue and cry over some 500 employees who are paid ten times higher than the tea estate employees. But then the media just want's to grab viewership/ readers, facts and analysis be damned.
