B-schools
by Nina John on Feb 09, 2005 12:43 PM

i totally agree with this columnist -our B-schools are just not upto speed with the real world. Both academicians and industry need to share the blame for this.B-schools do not have the right tie-ups with corporates for summer training or projects and corporates don't devise good projects for students, neither do they supervise these properly.
Further, MBA's think they are meant only for top managemnt jobs and don't bother about the marketplace or the customer, the 'dirty marketing' as it is referred to.Unrealistic aspirations by the students make things worse. Unless students have worked in an office, they will truly not understand the case -studies and theory. I know, beacuse when I did my MBA, the class had 70% working executives and the rest of us freshers could never contribute as meaningfully.
Having said that, let me also add that there were insights that we had which those working could appreciate, so the 'individual' factor cannot be totally discounted.
