Is it Really So ??
by Lalit on Aug 30, 2005 12:40 PM

When you say cheaper yes cheaper than before but still very expensive compared to the world. Better ? Well i dont what do you mean by better.MTNL does not give the promised bandwidth to the end user. Nor does most of the companys.Forget the Big & classy ads on the billboards. The reality is my previous RELIENCE (formally BSES) connection uses to give me a download speed of 3-4 KB/s. Broadband means you should able see streaming Vids for which you should have connection with at least 200+kb/s speed. But thats just a dream for many yrs to come i feel. Then the most stupid thing is the download limit, its like been given to drive a race car & told dont drive above 40kmph.Thats most absurd.Look a the prices of the connection in the korea.US$32 would give you a at least 1mbps speed in korea.thats approx Rs 1440.Thats what i would be paying for the 512kbps line out here & that too with the stupid download restriction. Broadbands for people who dont check just mails but are here too do some serious surfing, downloading &online gaming.According to me India must be a superpower in software development but as far as CHEAP & FAST internet is concerned it still has a long way to go.
