I am grately confused by the article that has been published in Business Standard. On one hand he puts forward a exciting idea of good designs and goodlooking buildings but on the other hand he reverts back to the Bengali attitude of upholding foreign people's skill as being better than our countrymen. I do not understand this and I totally disagree with him on the idea of having our buildings designed by correas and australians etc. Why cant we put up world class educational institutions which would impart knowledge in indian architecture and as well as modern architecture to our citizens and in the hope of one day them leading the world in designing. But whatever the ugly state of the country is today whether it may be in architecture, music, culture and not forget politics is entirely due to our old generation who have not made sure that our future generations have a happy and properous future offcourse with few exceptions but there only few of them. Our great country with 1bn people has only 5-6 IITs and 5-6 IIMs is that all in 50 years of our independence. And what are so proud of it its not even ranked highly in the world. What we need is better education and institutions.
