Politicians don't suffer what commoners do
by anand rajadhyaksha on Apr 11, 2005 10:50 AM

A major fallout of the patents bill will be the muscling in by the MNCs in the generics market. Arm twisiting of the retail trader to stock products he doesn't want if he wants deliveries of products he wants - "yeh mangta hai to woh bhi rakhna padega" - is bound to happen. Cheaper alternatives will thus be crowded off the shop shelves and their manufacturers either forced to shut shop or subcontract for the MNCs.

These politicians; whenever they or their brood falls ill, get treated at the country's expense. What do they lose in making health costlier for the commoners?
