There is not much cultural differences or food habits ( Orissa people also eat rice and fish) or language ( oriya is some kind of dialect just like Assamese of Bengali language).
in fact, until 1858, Bengal, Bihar and Orissa jointly used to be called Bengal. Bengali language was originated from Mathili Prakit ( the ancient language of Mithila).
